How DataMintify Works — Step by Step

DataMintify is a Shopify embedded app that enriches your food product catalogue with nutrition data, allergen information, and AI-generated content. Here's exactly how it works.

Step 1: Connect Your Shopify Store

Install DataMintify from the Shopify App Store. The app uses Shopify OAuth to connect securely — no manual API keys or passwords are required.

Step 2: Save and Secure Your Product Data

Before any enrichment begins, DataMintify saves an immutable snapshot of all your original product descriptions. This becomes your restore point — a permanent safety net you can return to at any time.

Step 3: Barcode Lookup and Enrichment

DataMintify scans the barcodes (UPC/EAN/GTIN) stored in your Shopify product metafields and searches 5 global food databases in sequence: FatSecret, Edamam, USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts, and Barcode Lookup. When a match is found, ingredients, allergens, and nutrition data are extracted and verified using AI.

Step 4: Product Description Update

Enriched data is formatted into beautifully structured HTML — including an FDA-style nutrition facts panel, a full ingredient list with data source attribution, and a colour-coded allergen grid — and injected into your Shopify product descriptions automatically.

Step 5: AI Content Generation (Optional)

Optionally, DataMintify generates an AI-powered ~500 word product description for every product, covering recipes, serving suggestions, health benefits, and SEO keywords. These are appended to the enriched description.

Step 6: Monitor Your Store Health Score

Your Store Health Score (0–100) updates automatically after each enrichment run. The score is broken down across four dimensions: Barcode Health, Nutrition Data, AI SEO Content, and Profit Booster.
